- steiner and "ss": this refers to felix steiner, general in the waffen-ss. like hausser he tried to transport the picture of the waffen-ss to be only a military organisation. he excluded the waffen-ss to be involved in war crimes.

- i´m quite sure that the name refers to paul hausser, a generaloberst of the waffen-ss. the rank was the second highest in the waffen ss. different corps under his regiment were involved in war crimes in italy and russia. during his whole life he defended the waffen-ss to be just a military organisation even though he knew that guards of the concentration camps came from the waffen-ss bzw. ss-totenkopfverbänden and often members of one or the other organisation "changed sides" to the other.
